Dear Resident
Firstly, by the time this is published the children in the Parish will have broken up from their various schools and this invariably will mean that there will be more children “playing out and about” and being exposed to the dangers of speeding traffic. We are urging all vehicle users to pay strict attention to and observe the speed limits in and around the village and take special notice of, and care when passing, any children walking, running, scootering, skateboarding, or cycling along the footpath. Children’s actions can be unpredictable, and they may not take the necessary care when distracted.
Secondly, by the time the Magazine and this article is published we hope the Mobile Speed Indicator Device will be being deployed by the volunteer group, reminding drivers of their speeds, and indicating when the speed is exceeding the zone limit. The unit will initially be sited on Bowcliffe and Clifford Roads but in time the number of siting points will be expanded to include all the major problem areas within the village and its surrounding road network. How quickly the use is expanded will in part depend upon the number of volunteers willing to carry the “torch”; so far, excluding Councillors, we have 5 volunteers. If you wish to volunteer, then please contact the Parish Clerk, Nancy Fairbairn, at clerk@bramhamparishcouncil.gov.uk.
Thirdly and finally a resident has pointed out that several of the “Obligatory” and “Advisory” traffic signs (placed by Highways, LCC) have been obscured by overgrowing bushes/trees from adjacent private gardens causing a potential hazard. We are grateful for the cooperation of at least one resident who has already had the overhanging foliage trimmed back and the sign is once again exposed. If you are aware of any signs in your neighbourhood which are similarly affected would you please send an e-mail to mike.corrigan@bramhamparishcouncil.gov.uk enclosing a photograph and the location and the Traffic Management Working Group will endeavour to get the foliage cut back.
With thanks from the Traffic Management Working Group.
