A1 (M) roadworks

Highways England have advised as follows:

We’re getting in touch to let you know we have now entered the second phase of vital works to upgrade safety barriers on the A1(M) between junctions 42 (Selby Fork) and 43 (Hook Moor).

What are we doing and when?

From Sunday 7 September we will extend the current traffic management by 1.6 miles on a section of the southbound carriageway between junctions 43 and 42. To do this, we will need an overnight closure (8pm-6am) between the two junctions on 7 September.

On 10, 11 and 12 September, we will then need a further three overnight closures to extend the traffic management on the northbound carriageway between junctions 42 and 43 by two miles.

This will enable us to install a new concrete central barrier on a section of the A1(M) between the two junctions. This is expected to take around five months in total.

The impact

The A1(M) will be reduced to two lanes with a reduced speed limit of 50mph for the safety of drivers and our workforce.

Diversions will be clearly signed.
