LCC Highways department have advised that the project is now ready for the construction phase. Because of the very limited amount of space, both in gardens of The Old Post Office and Stonecroft and on Town Hill itself, a road closure will need to be in place for the duration of the work. This is currently expected to be 24 weeks starting from next week, Monday 30th January. The road closure will operate between Holly Tree Cottage and The Old Post Office. Pedestrian access will be maintained by Hinko Ltd.
The effects on refuse collections has been planned for, with the refuse team making use of a special vehicle for collections to the top portion of Town Hill and High Street. The contractor’s staff will ensure that the bins for properties that cannot be directly serviced are taken to a pre-arranged collection point and returned to properties thereafter.
A final letter drop was undertaken locally last week and within the next couple of days residents may begin to notice some advance signage being placed on the road.
